Saigiku Jonou
Inspired by the old painting styles of Japan, such as Ukiyo-e, I sought .to create a minimal and flat illustration for the character & author Saigiku Jonou. The colors pay homage to the character from the show. There are two black tear shaped elements in place of the earrings in reference to the 'Priceless Tears' by the same author. The devilish smile, the hand gesture, all hint at the misfit personality of the character in the show
Ogai Mori
My end goal was to create an ideation for a book that would be an entire collection of Ogai Mori's Works, with it's design and color theme heavily inspired by Mori from the show Bungou Stray Dogs ( The character who in turn was inspired by his real life counterpart )
Mori Ōgai was one of the greatly regarded pioneers of Modern Japanese Literature. Some of his most famous works being
'Maihime' Or 'The Dancing Girl' And 'Vita Sexualis'.
The layout makes use of silhouettes of the character and serif & japanese inspired type. The color hint towards blood and the design of Ogai Mori's character. The blood splash also hints at personality of Mori in the show.
